1. About this Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how WesLan, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("WesLan," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you interact with the SPEQ product. "SPEQ" includes our marketing website at getspeq.com (including the Build Log blog and waitlist) and the SPEQ application accessible to authenticated users (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide — marketing site
When you submit the waitlist form on our landing page or the subscribe form on a blog post, we collect:
- Your email address.
- An internal tag identifying which form you used (for example,
primary-signup-ctaorblog-footer), so we can understand where people are signing up.
Account information — SPEQ application
When you create an account for the SPEQ application, our authentication provider Clerk collects and manages on our behalf:
- Your name and email address.
- Authentication credentials. Passwords are handled by Clerk; WesLan never sees or stores your password.
- If you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Google or GitHub), identifiers that provider shares with us.
- Sign-in timestamps, IP addresses associated with authentication sessions, and basic device fingerprint data that Clerk uses to protect your account.
Application content
Any information you enter into the SPEQ application — including specifications, projects, team memberships, and comments — is stored on our behalf by our infrastructure providers. We treat this information as your content and use it only to provide and improve the Services for you.
Information collected automatically
We use Mixpanel on our marketing website and blog pages to measure engagement. Through Mixpanel we collect:
- Pages viewed and links clicked.
- Device and browser information (type, operating system, screen size).
- Approximate location derived from IP address (country or region level).
- A randomly-assigned anonymous identifier stored in your browser's local storage so we can recognize return visits.
- Referring URL (how you arrived at the site).
We do not intentionally collect any other personal information automatically.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send product updates and launch announcements to people on our waitlist.
- Measure which blog posts and signup flows are effective.
- Authenticate you, secure your account, and prevent abuse of the application.
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, and notifications generated by the application).
- Provide, maintain, debug, secure, and improve the Services.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Mixpanel stores its anonymous identifier in your browser's local storage (functionally similar to a cookie) on the marketing website. Clerk uses cookies and local storage to maintain your authenticated session in the SPEQ application. We do not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
You can disable or clear these identifiers by clearing your browser's site data for the SPEQ domains, enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser, or using the Mixpanel opt-out. Note that disabling authentication cookies will sign you out of the SPEQ application.
5. Sub-processors and Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with vendors who help us operate the Services:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting and infrastructure for the marketing website and application, including Cloudflare Workers (the
/api/subscribeendpoint) and DNS. - Mixpanel, Inc. — analytics for the marketing website and blog.
- SendPulse — marketing email delivery (waitlist announcements and blog subscription notifications).
- Clerk, Inc. — account creation, authentication, and user session management for the SPEQ application.
- Resend — transactional email delivery for the SPEQ application (account verification, password resets, and product notifications).
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger or acquisition.
6. Data Retention
We retain waitlist email addresses until you unsubscribe or request deletion. We retain analytics data in accordance with Mixpanel's default retention settings. You can request deletion at any time by emailing support@getspeq.com.
7. Your Rights
For residents of the EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
For residents of California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell your personal information.
How to exercise your rights
Email support@getspeq.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within the time frame required by applicable law.
8. Children's Privacy
SPEQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Transfers
WesLan, LLC is based in the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. By using the site, you consent to this transfer.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify waitlist members by email.
